THE State Government’s stiff new lockout laws have claimed its first Gold Coast victim – months before they’ve even kicked in.
Club Boutique has announced it is closing its doors about a year after opening on the nightlife hub of Orchid Avenue in Surfers Paradise.
The venue posted the news on its Facebook page this afternoon, saying after considerable thought it was decided “we had no choice but to close”.
“As we all know now, our industry will be forced to adjust its trading and as a result there is no confidence for the future,” the post reads.
“Sydney’s Kings Cross late-night entertainment precinct has shown the effects the new laws will have on us.”
Club Boutique spokesman Tony Rigas, who is also involved with Love Nightlife nightclub in Broadbeach, declined to comment on the closure announcement other than to say Club Boutique would “definitely not” be opening elsewhere.
